Welcome to Cool Wiring: Growing Up Neurodivergent.

We’re a neurodivergent family who had to change our environments. The ones we were in were sending us – and others – the wrong messages about who we were.

As my oldest put it, those environments were just “the default.” We needed a new setting – a cool one. He was right.

Trying to find meaning, connection, and confidence in systems that didn’t understand us was exhausting. When we shifted away from trying to "fix ourselves" to changing the environment, we could find joy, safety, and real connection – with ourselves, with each other, and with a wider neurodivergent community.

That’s where Cool Wiring began.

This space is about storytelling, because stories help us feel seen, and they help others feel less alone. With our parenting blog, we share our real-life experiences as a neurodivergent family: the joyful milestones, the social curveballs, the sensory tools that work, and the beauty in thinking, feeling, and being a little bit different.

You’ll find blog posts and videos about:

  • Parenting neurodivergent kids with ongoing learning and sometimes humor

  • Sensory play ideas (like giant bubbles)

  • Strategies for navigating sensory overload

  • Reflections on identity, connection, and development

We're still learning (a lot). But we’re also tapping into our strengths, getting curious, and honoring what makes us – and others – wired cool.

We’re so glad you’re here.
